A Nigerian academic and businesswoman who manages her son musical career, Bose Ogulu, popularly known as Mama Burna has joined the International Power Players by Billboard 2021.
The Billboard International Power Players list honors leaders in music industry at the global level and its honorees are nominated by peers and companies in the business with selection by editors who operate outside the United States.
The honorees list covers concert promoters, independent entrepreneurs, label executives, music publishers and artiste managers.
In an article published on Monday, the Billboard recognised Mama Burna for her hard work in co-producing, releasing and promoting the ‘Twice as Tall’ album for her son, Burna Boy, amidst the 2020 pandemic.
Ogulu made the list with the likes of Simon Robson, President, International Warner Recorded Music; Warner Music Group; Monica Cornia, Senior VP International Marketing, RCA Records and Arista Records, Sony Music Entertainment.
Aside being a manger to her son, she is the CEO of Spaceship Collective. She had a career in the Federation of West African Chambers of Commerce as a translator.
With a Masters of Arts in Translation, she speaks some international languages likes Italian, French, German and English alongside Nigeria’s native Yoruba language.
