An earthquake of magnitude 6.0 struck in the northeastern state of Assam, India, damaging some buildings, with state authorities checking for any casualties.
According to the United States Geological Survey, the earthquake hit at a depth of 34 kilometers with its epicenter near Dhekiajuli town, 140 kilometers north of Guwahati, Assam’s main city.
Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam’s chief minister put out a warning to “stay alert”.
He also prayed for the well-being of everyone, as he was taking updates from all districts.
Residents of the city said there have been cracks on the wall in some homes and on the floors. People stood outdoors on the road, anxious about contemporary tremors.
