A former deputy governor of the Central Bank of NIgeria (CBN) and presidential aspirant for the 2023 presidency Kingsley Moghalu, has resigned from the African Democratic Party (ADC) on Monday after losing the party’s presidential ticket.
Moghalu in a letter to Ralphs Nwosu, the national chairman of the party, said his resignation was with “immediate effect.”
Announcing his decision in the letter, he said inducements appeared to have played more important roles in determining the outcome of the presidential primary than loyalty to the party.
Kingsley Moghalu had last week lost the ADC presidential primary election to Dumebi Kachikwu, founder of Roots Television, who defeated him to emerge as the flag bearer of the ADC.
In February 2018, Moghalu who announced his intention to run for the office of the President of Nigeria chose to run on the platform of the Young Progressives Party(YPP).
After losing in the presidential election, Moghalu in October 2019, resigned his membership of the YPP, announcing that he would focus in the immediate future on advocacy for electoral reform through the non-partisan citizens movement To Build a Nation (TBAN).
