Arsenia Felicidade Felix Massingue was appointed by President Filipe Nyusi as Mozambique’s first female interior minister.
This came after the previous ministers in charge of defence and interior security were both sacked this week.
Before her appointment, Massingue was the chief commissioner for immigration.
She also worked in the past as the provincial police commander in Inhambane, Manica and Nampula provinces.
She is expected to tackle the challenges of terrorism, corruption and kidnappings.
