The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has screened and confirmed 15 commissioner-nominees including a 28-year-old lawyer, Hannatu Abimiku which was sent to it by the Governor Abdullahi Sule last Thursday.
The Speaker of the House, Ibrahim Abdullahi announced their confirmation during the House proceedings in Lafia on Wednesday after the screening exercise.
He said, “I am glad to announce that after a thorough screening exercise of the 15 commissioner nominees sent to us by Governor Abdullahi Sule, they have all been confirmed by members of the House. So we will await their swearing in ceremony which is at the discretion of the Governor.
“Those confirmed include Yakubu Kwanta from Akwanga Local Government Area, Hannatu Abimiku from Lafia LGA, Yusuf Turaki from Awe LGA, Aishatu Ibrahim from Awe LGA, Salihu Enah from Doma LGA, Umar Gurku from Karu LGA, Nuhu Oshafu from Keana LGA, Idris Mohammed-Idris from Keffi LGA and Abdulkareem Kana from Kokona LGA.
“Others are Mohammed Sarki from Lafia LGA, Fatu Sabo from Nasarawa LGA, Yakubu Lawal from Nassarawa Eggon LGA, Daniel Agyeno from Obi LGA, Ahmed Baba-Yahaya from Toto LGA and Lucky Yargwa from Wamba LGA.”
The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the House resolution to Sule for further actions.
The Majority Leader of the House, Tanko Tunga representing Awe North constituency had moved a motion for the confirmation of the commissioner nominees while the Minority Leader, Abel Bala representing Nasarawa Eggon West seconded the motion.
