Super Eagles players Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho will return to Leicester City today ahead of Saturday match against Manchester City at the King Power stadium.
Both Eagles’ stars were involved as Nigeria National Football team began their Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifier on a good note in Lagos last Friday, beating Liberia 2-0 courtesy of Iheanacho’s double strikes.
According to the Leichester coach, Brendan Rodgers, the duo will join up with the rest of the squad today, along with the rest of the players who were on international duty.
“It’s always a challenge (when players go on international duty),” Rodgers told a pre-match conference on Thursday.
“Our Belgian players aren’t back until tomorrow (today). The whole squad (including Ndidi and Iheanacho) are not back until tomorrow (today). It’s always a challenge but you reset and then get excited. It’s a brilliant game for us, so we have to connect back quickly. We’ll do that tomorrow (Friday).”
Rodger also disclosed that Nigerian born English forward Ademola Lookman who joined foxes on one loan deal from RB Leipzig on deadline day could make his debut against the Citizens on Saturday.
“I’m really excited about working with Ade (Lookman). He’s a top talent. I wanted to take him to Celtic when he was at Charlton. I was aware of him when he was 15.
“He has all the tools; he has a great dribbling ability, how he views the game, he has an eye for a goal. My hope is that this environment will give him a chance to flourish.”
