Ahead of its November 6th governorship elections, Anambra State has gotten a new commandant of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Everestus Obiyo.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Edwin Okadigbo, made this known in a statement issued on Thursday in Awka, the state capital.
Obiyo replaces Vincent Ogu, who occupied the position for about four months.
Okadigbo disclosed that the official handing and taking over had been completed by the two officers.
The PRO said the 13th State Commandant of the NSCDC assumed duty on September 21, 2021, while the former has been redeployed to the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja.
Okadigbo described the new commandant as a seasoned officer who had shown competence and administrative acumen in the past positions he held.
“Before his recent posting to Anambra, Obiyo was the Commandant, Intelligence and Investigation Department at the NSCDC Zone E, Zonal Headquarters Owerri, Imo State.
“He has served as State Commandant in Kogi, Ogun and Enugu States respectively.
“He has a vast knowledge of the job having also served in over 21 state commands of the federation and held several appointments among others,” he added.
