Niger state Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has appointed Alhaji Ahmad Garba Gunna (Dan Majen Kagara) as the new Emir of Kagara.
He made this known in a statement released on Wednesday by the Commissioner for Local Government, Community Development, and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mallam Abdulmalik Sarkin Daji.
Daji said the appointment of Gunna came following the death of the Emir of Kagara, Alhaji Salihu Tanko Kagara, on March 1st, 2021 after a protracted illness in Minna.
According to the governor, the appointment was in line with section 3 subsection (1) of the Chiefs (Appointment and Deposition) law, Chapter 19, law of the Niger State.
The governor also said that his decision was based on the advice of the Niger State Council of Chiefs as required under section 7, of Cap 19.
Until his appointment, the new emir was the acting Chairperson of Niger State Board of Internal Revenue and held the traditional title of ‘Dan Majen Kagara.’
