A Nigerian air force plane crashed on Sunday as it was approaching the airport runway, at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport, Abuja. The crash was alleged to have been due to engine failure. This was confirmed by Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika.
The Minister said on his Twitter account that “a military aircraft King Air 350 has just crashed short of our Abuja runway after reporting engine failure en route Minna.”
He gave no details on casualties but wrote: “It appears to be fatal.”
The plane’s destination Minna is a city about 110 kilometres northwest of Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja.
