The Minister of Science and Technology, Ogbonnaya Onu, has revealed that Nigeria and the Kingdom of Belgium will strengthen their existing relationship in the aspect of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI). The minister said this on Monday in Abuja when he received the ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Nigeria, Daniel Bertrand.
The minister revealed that Nigeria has made Science, Technology and Innovation as one of its major priorities while briefing the Belgian envoy on the role of his ministry in directing the transformation of Nigeria’s economy to a knowledge and innovation based one.
He lauded the Federal Government’s efforts towards improving Nigeria’s manufacturing capacity and the agricultural value chain. Onu said the through more investment in STI, the per capita income and Gross Domestic Product of Nigeria would improve thereby bringing out Nigerians out of poverty.
He assured the envoy that Nigeria is a prime destination for investment and expressed optimism on interested Belgian investors.
