The sixth season of the Nigerian Idol ended on Sunday, the 11th of July, 2021 in Lagos with Kingdom emerging winner of the music competition, sponsored by Bigi Drinks and Tecno Mobile.
This comes after months of intense musical contest involving over 3000 participants from across the country, and over 16 million votes recorded at the finale.
Kingdom, Francis, Akunna, Comfort, and Faith Jason were the top 5 from the 11 contestants who made it to the live shows from the auditions. The competition evolved from the final 5 to the last 2 contestants, Kingdom and Francis, who battled it out on Sunday.
The winner walked away with a cash prize of N30 million, a brand new SUV, and 6 track EP recording deal (3 music videos included).
He also won all-expense-paid trip to Seychelles; a weekend getaway to Dubai for 2; Bigi branded refrigerator plus 1 year of Bigi drinks; DSTV explorer fully installed with 12months premium subscription and a wide range of Tecno products.
Sunday night also witnessed music performances from some of Nigeria’s best artistes. Mavin’s newest musician, Ayra Starr performed her song “Away”, while award-winning singer, Patoranking sang his new hit “Celebrate Me”.
RnB singer, Chike joined Francis Atela on stage to perform “Roju” while Kingdom and ace producer, Cobhams Asuquo came together for a beautiful rendition of ‘’One hit’’.
Reacting to the victory, he said ‘’My grandma used to say one day you’ll be very great. And then she died. And I almost gave up. But I want to thank the judges for believing in me and my fellow contestants for pushing me.”
