The Nigerian Navy has cleared air over the sudden disappearance of Nigerian Instagram comedian, Cute Abiola.
A comedian and skit maker, Mr Macaroni, had confirmed that Abiola was last seen on Monday, November 15, 2021.
Macaroni who took to his Twitter account on Tuesday, November 16, where he shared messages he received about Abiola captioned the message, “I have just received news that Cute Abiola is missing.”
He tweeted, “If the Nigerian Navy has any information to help Cute Abiola’s family and friends confirm his whereabouts or if he is in their custody, I think the honorable thing to do would be to clarify details surrounding his detention and put everyone’s mind at rest. Haba!”
The Nigerian Navy Wednesday Morning has revealed that Cute Abiola is in their Custody.
The Nigerian Navy affirmed that the skit maker was detained for violating its social media policy.
Spokesperson for the navy, Commodore Suleman Dahun said, “The young man was found to have breached the social media policy while he was on leave. So he was recalled, asked to come back, but he refused until he completed his leave which is a disobedience to particular orders.”
Mr Dahun said, “So, when he came back, we took him into custody for him to face the consequence.”
It was reported that Cute Abiola, spoke to his wife over the telephone when he arrived the office, however there were several attempts to reach him but it was unsuccessful.
Mr Dahun, revealed that naval officers have been warned not to make certain information public on social media by sharing photos.
He said, “You know, sometimes if you snap your picture in one of these our sensitive units, you are giving intelligence advisory. You’re giving away the information you’re not supposed to give, and we have told them several times to desist from exhibiting themselves on social media.”
