The All Share Index of the Nigerian Stock Exchange slipped into the red zone today after recording a 0.17% gain yesterday. The primary index of the local bourse lost 0.91% on the back of depressed investor sentiments, moving down by 269 basis points to end the day at 29,177.72 basis points. Market Capitalization for the market at the close of trading today was N10.02 trillion.
A total of 2,773 deals recorded on the floor today, 3.78% less than 2,882 deals recorded yesterday; the total volume of shares traded on the floor increased by 19.57% after a reduction of 33.29% recorded yesterday, while the total value of transactions recorded reduced by 20.05% compared to an increase of 47.65% recorded yesterday.
OKOMUOIL led the gainers chart, adding N1.02 to end the day with a share price of N29.02, followed by ZENITHBANK and BERGER which gained N0.56 and N0.46 to close at N17.60 and N9.77 respectively.
The Losers chart was led by NESTLE who lost N10.99 to close at N825.01, followed by NB and UNILEVER who lost N7.31 and N2.03 to close with share prices of N136.85 and N38.68 respectively.
The top five most actively traded shares by volume on the exchange today were UBA, ZENITHBANK, GUARANTY, HMARKINS and TRANSCORP with a combined total of 103 million shares traded.
Market breadth closed negative as NB led 15 Gainers against 17 Losers led by GUINNESS.
Year-To-Date currently stands at -15.77%.
