The Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Zamfara State Chapter, has dissociated from an alleged kidnaping by some medical doctors in the State.
The NMA, in a press statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Dr Mannir Bature and Secretary, Dr Remigius Nwachuku, said its attention was drawn to a publication by some media organisations with the caption “POLICE IN ZAMFARA ARREST MEDICAL DOCTOR, 7 OTHERS IN CONNECTION WITH BANDITRY,” hence the need for a refutation.
“We will, however, like to make it clear to the general public that the above caption which emanated from a joint press statement between Ministries of Information and Internal Security & Home Affairs in Zamfara State is incorrect.
“Our investigation revealed that the said person is not a medical doctor but a medical laboratory technician who is parading himself as a MEDICAL DOCTOR to defraud unsuspecting individuals.
“He is neither a resident nor does he work in Zamfara State.
“This clarification became necessary owing to the fact that only holders of MBBS, MBChB and BDS are entitled to be called MEDICAL DOCTOR,” the NMA said.
