Nollywood actress, Mary Remmy Njoku has replied Actors Guild of Nigeria’s National President, Emeka Rollas after he made a post via Instagram saying “Nollywood is not a dumping ground for BBnaija evictees.
In the recent Instagram post where he tagged multiple blogs, the actor declared participants of the show unfit for Nigeria’s film industry.
“Nollywood! Not a dumping ground for evictees!!! Case closed,” Rochas wrote.
The actress who responded to the post on Monday, expressed that Nollywood is indeed a rehabilitation centre and a dumping ground for those who have been rejected and discriminated.
Mary wrote, “Nollywood is Nigeria’s no 1 rehabilitation center. She is indeed a dumping ground to all society rejects. An employer of the unemployable. A shelter to all who have lost their way. A mother to the confused and misunderstood. She doesn’t judge.”
She further explained that Nollywood as a platform does not care about a person’s status in life, adding that many of them would have been jobless and suicidal today if not for Nollywood.
“Majority of us were unemployable in the society when we joined Nollywood. No degree, no certificates. If not for Nollywood, so many people would have committed suicide because of stigmatisation and discrimination. Nollywood is a home to all, she is life to anyone who wants to leave, remember that.”
Another colleague, actor Bolanle Ninalowo, has called Emeka out saying his post was an act of discrimination.
