The Amotekun Corps with some security agencies, have started stop-and-search of vehicles and personal identification of individuals in Ondo state.
The state Commander of Amotekun, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye made this known on Monday in Akure, the state capital. He stated that the formation and other security agencies in the state are quickly taking the precautionary measures to checkmate criminals who might be planning to unleash their enterprise during the Yuletide.
He disclosed that Amotekun and other security agencies in Ondo state wanted the people of the state and visitors to the state to have a peaceful and happy celebration during the Yuletide and beyond.
“The aim is to ensure the society is safe and in order to have improved security in the state.
“This will ensure that all security agencies work in a coordinated manner and avoid duplication of efforts.
“We don’t want motorists to feel embarrassed when we stop and ask for their identifications.
“The operation clean-up has commenced since December 1, 2021, and beginning from today, we will have men of the Amotekun Corps stationed all over the state in some strategic positions.
“There will be massive searching and checking of vehicles and this is due to Intelligent reports. I enjoin the general public to cooperate with us.
“Members of the public are advised to always carry along their means of Identification, vehicle particulars and tinted glass permit if using one,” he said.
