The Secretary-General of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Mohammad Sanusi Barkindo, is died.
The Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Mele Kyari, announced that Barkindo whose tenure as OPEC Secretary-General was scheduled to expire this July passed away Tuesday evening.
“We lost our esteemed Dr Muhammad Sanusi Barkindo,” Kyari said in a tweet.
Born April 20, 1959.
TOS NEWS reported that Barkindo was earlier on Tuesday honoured by President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja for his work at OPEC.
The president described him as a worthy ambassador of the country.
