Osun 2022: Former Reps Deputy Speaker, Lasun Yusuf Gives Condition to Drop Ambition
Former Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Yusuf Lasun, has said he will halt his ambition only if the leadership of the party tells him to do so.
He said this at a meeting convened by a caucus within Osun APC called ‘Opomulero Osun’ on Sunday.
Yusuf had on Saturday at the grand finale of Ilobu Day celebration, declared intention to contest in 2022 gubernatorial election.
He said, “I am an established person. I can give up my governorship ambition if the leadership of the party insists, but with a caveat, all stakeholders must be properly carried along without excluding anyone.
“This will give everyone the impetus to work for the party’s success.”
TOS NEWS reported in October how Senate spokesperson, Basiru Ajibola who served during Aregbesola’s administration and the immediate past deputy governor of Osun State, Mrs Titi Laoye-Ponle, led notable leaders of the All Progressives Congress in Osogbo Federal Constituency to endorse Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for another term in office.
Many bigwigs in the party, including the Chairman, Gboyega Famodun have been canvasing for Oyetola’s second term in office.
However, a former Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barr. Kolapo Alimi, former party chairman in the defunct ACN, Elder Adelowo Adebiyi and Hon. Rasaq Salinsile belonging to Aregbesola faction are antipodal rostrum to his second term.
A source from Osun West Senatorial District, who also contested in the governorship election in 2018 disclosed to TOS NEWS on Monday, that the faction has resolved to vote against the current administration.
“You cannot bite the hand that fed you and have peace. This was not the agreement we had back then. He is now in power and thinks he can do it alone. I can tell you categorically that if care is not taken, we will have a repeat of 2018. Our resolve is to vote against come 2022 except he is ready to run an inclusive government,” the source said.
