The State Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State,Hon. Sunday Bisi has accused erstwhile chairman of the party, Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo of anti-party activities in Osun.
Hon. Bisi disclosed this while revealing to newsmen on Sunday the storm that is rocking the party.
He said, “we are very sure that Adagunodo is working for the APC government in Osun State. It was Adagunodo who went to beg Adeleke to contest the governorship election in 2018 after winning the Senatorial election. It was the same Adagunodo, just two months to the election, who went to bring in Ogunbiyi. He brought him in and he contested the primary. After the election, they started approaching the court on frivolous allegations. We then raised a committee to find out who was behind all the court issues. The findings of the committee we sent out revealed the person behind the cases. We also saw the hand of the APC in the cases.”
While denying the allegation levied against the leadership of the party by the erstwhile chairman that Senator Ademola Adeleke is the preferred candidate of the party for Osun governorship election in 2022, he said there is nothing wrong if Adeleke contests again for election in 2022.
He further stressed that, this is democracy and democracy is the government of the people by the people and for the people.
“Adeleke was our governorship candidate in 2018; Adagunodo was the chairman of the party then. The primary was conducted, and though Adagunodo supported another candidate, Adeleke won. We held the governorship election in September the same year and Adeleke won, though we were robbed of the victory. There is nothing wrong if Adeleke contests again for election in 2022. We are also not saying that if Adagunodo has interest in any other governorship aspirant, he should not bring the aspirant. We are not stopping anybody. This is democracy and democracy is the government of the people by the people and for the people. If he has anybody else, let him bring such a person again. He should not be saying that someone is working for the emergence of someone. If we have our own candidate in Adeleke, then we would bring him, so that the two of them will contest the primary,” he stated.
Speaking on the way forward on how to resolve the crisis in the party, Hon. Bisi said the issue can better be resolved by the party and not court.
“The way out for the party is simple. Adagunodo has gone to court. We have filed a preliminary objection to the issues raised by him. Issues such as this are better resolved by the party and not the court. The court cannot appoint officers of the party. Adagunodo is avoiding those making efforts to resolve the crisi,” he said.
