Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola on Friday has sent delegation to receive the remains of late activist, Yinka Odumakin which departed Lagos for Moro, his country home, in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun.
The delegation was led by the Chief of Staff to the governor, Charles Akinola. Osun State Head of Service, Dr Adegboyega Oyebade was among the delegation.
Prominent Nigerians on Thursday stormed Police College, Ikeja, Lagos, for his lying-in-state ceremony.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila; former governor of Ondo state, Olusegun Mimiko; former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi; former governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party in Lagos, Jimi Agbaje; Afenifere leader, Pa Ayo Adebanjo; human rights lawyer, Femi Falana(SAN); Senator Tokunbo Afikuyomi, Pastor Ituah Ighodalo, Mohammed Fawehinmi and a host of others attended the ceremony.
In a statement issued by the widow, Dr Okei-Odumakin on April 12 on the order of funeral rites, there would be Lying in State at Origbo Anglican Grammar School, Moro by 8: 00 a.m. on April 24.
“This will be followed by a funeral service by 10:00 a.m., after which his remains will be committed to Mother Earth at a private interment,” she added.
