Yoruba art and culture promoter, Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye aka Baba Asa, has requested a Lagos High Court to charge Nollywood actress, Elizabeth Anjorin Lawal aka Lizzy Anjorin with the sum of N30 million for slander.
The Canada-based promoter, is the plantiff while the actress is the sole defendant.
On the 23rd of February, Oyatoye alleged that Lizzy slandered him via her social media page.
He claimed that he started interacting with Lizzy due to his job as a promoter when he was organizing the annual Asa Day in Canada 2018.
He added that the actress was called to take part in the event, and all issues concerning her involvement in the Asa Day were effectively fixed.
On January 30, 2021, Oyatoye stated that he was informed by friends who saw a post from Lizzy which was captioned, ‘The Fraudster of Manitoba and the Fraudster of Winnipeng’ that claimed Oyatoye executed fraud on her and her contractors.
He said that there was no reason for the actress to have made such post which defamed his personality and status.
Oyatoye added in his response that he has briefed his counsel who wrote to the actress at her business address in lekki.
Even after receiving the letter from his councel Lizzy further went and publicized more slander against him, Baba Asa stated.
He requested the court to order the defendant to terminate all defamatory post concerning him immediately via her Instagram and all social media platforms.
Lastly, he requested the court to grant an order of perpetual injunction regulating Lizzy involving in any other slander post on social media or any other platform, concerning, him.
