The cold war between Osun APC has taken another dimension as the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola is fuming on the debt inherited from his predecessor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
A statement made by Oyetola’s aide, Jamiu Baatunde who is the Special Assistant on Education on his Facebook page on Wednesday disclosed that Governor Oyetola inherited ₦169 billion naira debt.
“No reasonable literate will contest the National Bureau of Statics on debt profile of Osun State. Oyetola Inherited ₦169b,” he wrote.
In a rejoinder to the statement by Aregbola’s aide, Bola Ilori who served as Commissioner for Regional Integration under Aregbesola, now chairman of the Federal Government task force on monitoring and enforcement of Nigerian expatriate business permit and expatriate quota administration said: “ No reasonable literate will contest the fact that Aregbesola and Oyetola incurred loans under their joint signatures on behalf of the government and the people of Osun and expended the money judiciously under their joint signatures on behalf of the government and the people of Osun. Both Aregbesola and Oyetola did well.”
Jamiu Olawumi had on February 27 raised the alarm that Debt Management Office has blacklisted Osun, added that the state cannot borrow a dime for another ten years.
Jamiu Babatunde Olawumi was a former Acting DG of Oranmiyan Worldwide; he served as the Secretary, Media and Publicity Committee of Raul Aregbesola Campaign Organisation in 2007 and as the Deputy Director of 0D2D Media and Strategy in 2014 re-election of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
Gboyega Oyetola, on Monday, March 2, 2020 approved the reversal of the single school uniform, ‘reclassification’ of the public school system and the abolition of single-sex schools introduced in 2013 by his predecessor, Rauf Aregbesola.
On Wednesday, March 3, the Osun State House of Assembly reversed another controversial policy of former governor Rauf Aregbesola, by passing the Osun State Local Government Administration Amendment 2021 into law.
According to the bill, the administration at local government level has been reversed from the parliamentary system initiated by Aregbesola to a presidential system.
TOS News gathered that there is rift between Governor Oyetola and the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola. Speaking with TOS News, a chieftain of the APC in Osun and former governorship aspirant in Osun 2018 governorship elelction, Babatunde Adedotun Taiwo said the fight is about “ingratitude.” He faulted Oyetola’s negligence for keeping Aregbesola’s men out of his cabinet. “Making the enemies of your benefactor your own friend is simply wickedness and display of ingratitude,” he added.
In an interview with TOS News, Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy of Osun APC, Barrister Kunle Oyetomi debunked the rift between Oyetola and Aregosola, and being blacklisted by Debt Management Office.
