The Oyo State Independent National Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) has announced candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) as winners of the chairmanship elections which held on Saturday May 22.
The announcement was made on Sunday by the Chairman of OYSIEC, Mr. Isiaka Olagunju (SAN), at the INEC headquarters in Ibadan.
The elections took place in 32 out of the 33 local government areas of the state, as the election in Ido Local Government Area was suspended on Saturday due to compliant over the exclusion of the logo of the Zenith Labor Party on the ballot papers in the area.
According to Mr. Olagunju, the commission took responsibility for the mistake and postponed the election in the affected area to Sunday, May 23 but the election could not hold.
The OYSIEC chairman later rescheduled the election to May, 29 which fell on a public holiday. He again changed the date to Wednesday, May 26.
Governor Seyi Makinde, who casted his vote at the ward 11, Polling unit 1, Abayomi Open Space, Iwo road, Ibadan on Saturday, expressed satisfaction with the conducts of the elections and commended the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission for putting appropriate measures in place to ensure a free and fair election.
