As part of efforts to resolve the crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party, the Board of Trustees of the party will today meet the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, in Port Harcourt Tuesday, The Punch reports.
The meeting will be held at the State Government House in Port Harcourt at noon (12pm).
Wike’s men and Governors of Enugu, Abia, Benue, Oyo States, as well as some top PDP stakeholders in the state are expected to be at the meeting.
Governor Wike and some governors in the South had boycotted the campaign flag-off of the party’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
To this effect, it is expected that deliberations at the meeting will be aimed at finding a common ground to pacify Wike and his men ahead of 2023 elections.
Governor Wike and four of his counterparts, now known as the big five governors, have formed an alliance to seek equity and justice in the party.
Top of their demands is the resignation of the PDP national chairman, Senator Iyorcha Ayu, to pave the way for a southerner to succeed him since Atiku, a northerner, is the presidential candidate of the party.
