The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyorchia Ayu on Sunday paid a visit to the Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal at his Abuja residence, hours after the national convention of the party.
In a video clip which captured his arrival, Ayu who exchanged pleasantries with Tambuwal was heard calling the governor the “hero of the convention.”
He said, “Thank you. Thank you. You are the hero of the convention.”
Further details of meeting was not disclosed.
Tambuwal, one of the party’s presidential aspirants announced his withdrawal from the race on Saturday night and asked his supporters to vote for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who emerged the party’s presidential candidate.
Atiku won the contest with 371 votes from the 767 votes cast by the national delegates accredited for the poll.
In another video, Atiku was seen visiting the governor with other party agents like ex-lawmaker, Dino Melaye present. Details of Abtiku’s visit to Governor Tambuwal was also not disclosed.
The PDP presidential candidate has said he is ready to face other opponents in the 2023 presidential election. He has also expressed optimism about his victory and unifying the country for good.
