PDP Congress: Kashamu, George in struggle for control of Lagos chapter

The crisis in the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP deepened yesterday following indications that a powerful Southwest leader of the party, Senator Buruji Kashamu, has moved to supplant the structure put in place by erstwhile deputy national chairman, Chief Bode George.

This came as there was uncertainty, yesterday, over the conduct of the rescheduled PDP ward congress in Lagos State.

It was gathered yesterday that allies of Senator Kashamu were working with aggrieved members of the party in the state who have scores to settle with Chief George to actualise the dream.

A top party official in Lagos State, however, vowed to resist the alleged efforts of the senator from Ogun State saying that Lagos PDP will not take dictates from Ogun State.

Kashamu’s media aide, Austin Oniyokor in a swift reaction, however, removed his boss from the affairs of the PDP in Lagos State.

“How can anyone say he is causing division in Lagos PDP? They should carry their cross and stop looking for people to blame for the crisis. Who does not know that PDP in Lagos has been divided for long between Chief Bode George and Senator Musiliu Obanikoro? Was it Kashamu that did that?”, he asked.
