The National Pension Commission (PenCom) said it has created an online application to help capture the details of retirees for accuracy and timeliness of documentation.
The announcement was made by Anyim Nyerere, PenCom’s technical commissioner on Monday at the opening ceremony of a workshop for pension desk officers of Ministries, Agencies and Departments.
According to Nyerere, the process will include self-assisted and the pension fund administrator (PFA) assisted options.
He said the commission expects to register about 11,000 civil servants who are to retire in year 2021.
“The benefit is to enable us to capture retirees which would enable the budget proposal for the retirees by the federal government,” Nyerere said.
PenCom’s commissioner also said there are security measures put in place to protect the app from fraudsters.
“There are strict passwords that have been put in place, you can’t just go in and register, we must issue you a password,” he added.
