Plateau state government said it has established its first National Identity Number (NIN) registration centre located at the state’s Secretariat, Jos.
Director of Press and Public Affairs to Governor Simon Lalong, Dr Makut Macham disclosed on Monday.
According to the statement, the creation of the center will fast track the ongoing registration exercise by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC).
Macham further said the registration centre was established to reduce the hardship of Plateau people who were experiencing difficulties in enrolling for the NIN.
He said the operation of the centers, would be extended to the 17 Local Government Areas of the state and would be coordinated by the Plateau State Information, Communication and Technology Development Agency (PICTDA) and the Ministry of Science and Technology as directed by Gov. Lalong.
Macham urged the people to visit the new centre with their credentials for capturing, adding that, enrolment in schools, provision of health care services, especially through the state social health insurance scheme, among other services would be further be improved through the NIN centre.
