The police commissioner in Jigawa state, Aliyu Tafida on Friday, confirmed that one person was killed while six others were injured in a violent clash which occurred on Tuesday between farmers and cattle herders in Kirikasamma Local Government Area of the state.
Mr. Tafida who identified the deceased person as Buhari Haladu, a farmer, said he visited the affected area on Wednesday and ordered a police reinforcement to restore law and order.
According to a resident, Idris Madaci, the herders encroached farmlands and attacked farming communities with arrows and machetes. He added that the herders dismembered the deceased victim and went away with his head, hands and private parts.
The incident comes barely a month after the clash on December 6 that led to the death of three people in the council area with many others injured in a clash between farmers and cattle herders.
