Rivers State Police Command has announced it will limit movement of persons, vehicles or any other mechanically propelled engine either on land or waterways between the hours of 12midnight on Friday April 16 and 2pm on Saturday April 17, in the state.
The reason for this is the forthcoming Local Government election scheduled to hold on Saturday, 17th April.
This was contained in a press release from the Public Relations Department by State Police Command which was made available to TOS News.
This development came after a meeting the Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday who chairs Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security had with other bodies directly responsible to superintend over election in the state.
According to the statement, the Command has deployed a total of 17,500 personnel to be complemented from other Sister Security Agencies, noting that the restriction is necessary to ensure full objectives of the Council election and engender a seamless exercise.
