
The Police in River State have rescued 4 students of the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT), who were kidnapped on Saturday.
A statement by Sam Kpenu, spokesperson of the institution confirmed the development.
According to him, the victims include, 2 undergraduate , and 2 Ph.D students were kidnaped while they were on their way to Orashi River in the state.
The victims are: Gbaa Nenubari, Asumbo Elizabeth, Eze Chimezie, and Onosigho Augustine.
Sam said, “They were on their way to Orashi River for vegetation sampling for their final-year project and post-graduate research works when they were abducted.”
He also stated that the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Owunari Georgewill, received the rescued students and applauded the institution’s chief security officer and security agencies for their prompt intervention.
Owunari said, “We are happy that the students are back unhurt and now reunited with their families and friends.
“We sympathise with them for what they went through in the hands of their abductors.”
