The Kogi State Police Command said it operatives rescued two people who were kidnapped along the Ajaokuta-Itobe road in the state from the hand of their abductors.
This was contained in a statement; CZ:5300/KGS/PPRO/VOL.T/126 issued and signed by the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, DSP William Aya on Monday in Lokoja, the state’s capital.
The statement said the victims were rescued on Saturday.
“On December 18, 2021, at about 1600hrs, we received a tip-off that some armed hoodlums had blocked the express road between NEPA and ASCOL bump inward Itobe-Ajaokuta road, shooting sporadically to scare motorists to carry out their nefarious crime.
“The operatives promptly swung into action, raced to the scene and engaged the hoodlums but they all escaped into the bush and in the process, they rescued two victims unhurt. Efforts are on for possible apprehension of the hoodlums,” he explained.
In another development, police men attached to Enjema division in Kogi East apprehended two suspects, Mohammed Alhaji and Amadu Sule Juji, who specialize in cattle rustling.
“The police promptly swung into action through intelligence-led operations and arrested the suspects at Ogboji in Ankpa Area and recovered 14 cows.
“Suspects will be arraigned in court on completion of investigation,” Aya said.
