A former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has identified education for all as a sure panacea to extremist tendencies, stressing that education is the only leading light that guides humanity.
Atiku consequently called on the government to ensure free education at all levels.
The former Presidential aspirant, who gave this charge during the 10th Annual Founder’s day of the American University of Nigeria in Yola, said the country had done a poor job in handling its multitude natural resources, noting that it should harness its human resources through quality education to secure its future.
In a keynote address he presented titled, “Beyond Terrorism: The need for Education reform”, Atiku urged his party, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to see the change in government as an opportunity given to it to rejig the country’s leadership.
Stressing that past leadership had done a poor job in handling available resources, he asserted that the new administration must recognise education as the best tool in resolving the myriads of problems bedeviling the country.
He lauded Buhari’s administration for the concerted efforts it is putting in place to contain terrorism in the country.
