Rapper Rick Ross has been charged with kidnapping and assault after he was arrested by the US Marshals Service fugitive task force.
Jim Joyner, a supervisor with the Marshals’ Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force, said Ross and a man described as his bodyguard were detained at the star’s mansion outside Atlanta, Georgia.
Ross, whose real name is William Roberts, and Nadrian James, 42, were being held at the Fayette County jail.
They are both charged with kidnapping and aggravated battery, with an additional aggravated assault charge for Ross.
A statement said: “Fayette County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation regarding an assault which occurred at a residence on Highway 279 in Fayetteville, Ga.
“The investigation revealed William Roberts and Nadrian James as suspects responsible for the assault.
“On June 24, 2015 members of the US Marshals Southeast Regional Task Force executed arrest warrants on William Roberts and Nadrian James.
“They were arrested in Fayetteville, Georgia without incident as a result of this investigation.”
It is not known if Ross, 39, has a lawyer in the case.
