Two police officers and five civilians were killed on Thursday when armed robbers attacked four banks in Uromi, Esan north-east LGA of Edo state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Edo, Bello Kontong, confirmed the attack but said he had no further detail.
“There are four banks that were attacked are UBA, Zenith Bank, First Bank and Union Bank,” he said.
According to witnesses ,the gunmen got to the town in their numbers and in several vehicles before they attack the four banks with dynamites.
The police spokesperson revealed that one of the four banks attacked is a new generation establishment.
“We lost two police officers including one from the division that was attacked , a female constable and then a sergeant that is from Auchi in Zenith bank.
“So, the total casualties of human beings are seven , two police personnel and five civilians including a mad man,” he said
