The Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been awarded the ‘Best Nigerian Governor in Internal Audit Transformation’, by the Institute of Internal Auditors of Nigeria to recognise and appreciate his significant transformation of the internal audit function in Lagos State.
The award was received by Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat on Governor Sanwo-Olu’s behalf at the 2021 National Conference of the Institute of Internal Auditors themed ‘Navigating uncertainties,’ on Thursday in Lagos.
Mr. Hamzat said Mr. Sanwo-Olu’s government considered auditors as strategic partners in the discharge of its responsibilities to its people.
He said the Lagos state government had to restructure the service delivery model used in the face of changes caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also noted that internal auditors needed to re-invent their role, especially in the face of cloud computing where the data centre was outside the country and Artificial Intelligence (AI) controlling operations.
He also urged the institute of internal auditors to develop various training programs that would help members to undertake responsibilities effectively, noting that the state government was devoted to the professionalism of its workforce.
