Multitude of bank customers were stranded on Tuesday as Imo State Government close down all the banks on Bank Road in Owerri , the state capital.
Newsmen who visited the area around 9am saw numbers of banks customers waiting at various banks.
Some of the banks closed by the state government were Polaris, First Bank, Eco Bank, Access and United Bank for Africa.
Some staff of the banks who spoke to newsmen said the operatives of Owerri Capital Development Authority closed the banks .
The banks closed were those that failed to open on Monday, a day states in South East observed sit-at-home order to protest the release of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra who is being tried at Federal High Court in Abuja by the Federal Government.
However, some government officials stated that the banks were closed because of building approval plans.
