Anambra state governor-elect, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has confirmed the appointment of former Minister of Education, Dr. Obiageli Ezekwesili as the head of the Governorship Transition Committee in state.
The committee is set up and charged with the responsibility of ensuring a smooth transition of power from the administration of Governor Willie Obiano to Soludo on March 17.
According to the statement released by the head, Soludo Media Office, Joe Anatune, in Awka on Thursday, the committee is made of 80 members, including four Senior Advocates of Nigeria.
Notable people among the members are Prof. Pat Utomi; Prof. Chidi Odinkalu; Chief Osita Chidoka; Dr. Alex Otti; Dr. Olisa Agbakoba, SAN; and Chief Leon Mezue, among others.
The transition committee will work with a team set up by the government of Anambra State.
The statement partly reads, “This is to announce the constitution of a transition committee, which will liaise with a team set up by the Government of Anambra State to ensure a seamless transition from the Governor Willie Obiano’s administration to a Chukwuma Charles Soludo-led administration as from March, 17 2022.”
Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, the flag bearer of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) came first with a landslide majority with 112,229 votes in 2021 Anambra governorship election defeating Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 53, 807 votes.
