On the orders of the president of Cameroon, former Liverpool defender Rigobert Song would replace Toni Conceicao as head coach of the national team.
Known for his defensive skills, the 45-year-old is the country’s most capped player with 137 appearances for the Indomitable Lions.
He earned a name for himself in Europe, the United Kingdom, and Turkey before retiring in 2010.
He would replace Toni Conceicao, who led the national team to a third-placed finish at January’s Africa Cup of Nations after being ousted on penalties in the semi-finals by Egypt.
