About three weeks after the Department of State Services declared him wanted for allegedly stockpiling arms, an allegation he has since denied, Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo otherwise known as Sunday Igboho, has been arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic.
TOS News gathered that Igboho who was fleeing to Germany was arrested at an airport in Cotonou on Monday night will be repatriated to Nigeria on Tuesday from Benin Republic.
Igboho’s spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki said “we will get back to you” when contacted.
The Nigerian secret police had raided Igboho’s Ibadan residence in the Soka area on July 1, 202 1, and engaged his aides in a gun duel in which 2 of his men were gunned down while about 12 were whisked away.
The DSS, through its spokesperson, Peter Afunanya, at a briefing on July 1, 2021, declared Igboho wanted and had vowed that “Igboho may run as far as he can. He may hide as long as he wants…But this will be the end of his shenanigans.”
TOS News reported that the Federal Government had placed him on ‘stop list’. The government’s directive was contained in a letter by the Nigeria Immigration Service dated July 9,2021 and addressed to the Director General, Department of State Services, Inspector General of Police and Director General, National Intelligence Agency.
