
A renewed attack by suspected herders with at least five people killed has been reported in Makurdi the capital city of Benue State.
The sad incident happened at Anter Mbalagh council ward of Makurdi Local Government Area.
Reports have it that the attack by suspected herders was unprovoked but they stormed the community and attacked the people on their farm.
A native of Anter Mbalagh, the attacked community who pleaded anonymity gives the names of the killed persons; Ave usaar, Temanenge Kyer, kampung orbakpa, Aondoakura Akume and Terkimbir Orbakpa.
TOS News gathered that three of the victims had been buried, stressing that the corpses of other two victims are yet to be recovered.
On the contrary, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Lt Col. Paul Hemba, retd, confirmed the incident and said that two people were killed.
He said, “I am not aware of the people killed were five but I have pictures of two dead people from the community,” Hemba told newsmen during a phone conversation.
The Police Public Relations Officer, SP, Catherine Anene said she had yet to receive the report.
