American singer and songwriter, Stefani Angelina Germanotta, popularly known as Lady Gaga has opened up on how a producer once threatened to burn her music if she didn’t remove her clothes at age 19.
She revealed this on Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry’s new docuseries ‘The Me You Can’t See.’
The 35-year-old broke down in tears as she explained how the incident had a negative effect on her mental health, driving her to self-harm.
Lady Gaga who did not mention the abuser’s name told Oprah that she detests to face the person again. She revealed that the emotional pain from the incident manifested in a physical way, as she was sick for weeks.
‘’I realised that it was the same pain that I felt when the person who raped me dropped me off pregnant on a corner, at my parent’s house, ’cause I was vomiting and sick, ’cause I had been being abused. I was locked away in a studio for months.’’ She revealed on the show.
Speaking about her improvement in her mental health, Gaga advised people going through mental depression to be patient with themselves and their progress. She also advised them to open up, as it is part of the healing process.
