Ten soldiers has died as suspected Boko Haram insurgents launched fresh attack in Borno State on Thursday.
TOS NEWS gathered that the attacked soldiers were traveling to Maiduguri, Borno State capital from Monguno when the insurgents launched the attack.
A source disclosed that those soldiers were from one of the strong camps in the area and were taking some items and personnel to the theatre command in Maiduguri.
“The insurgents must have planted the mines over the night, with information that the troops will use the road by morning.
“Not less than 10 of the soldiers, including an officer believed to be a unit commander, were killed in the attack. Some others who sustained injuries have been evacuated,” the source said.
It was gather that the insurgents also carted away some weapons and equipment belonging to the army.
The attack occurred weeks after some of the insurgents surrendered to the troops.
