Former Super Eagles Coach, Samson Siasia, on Friday evening, reacted to the lifetime ban placed on him by the world football body, FIFA.
According to him, the allegations by FIFA are baseless and untrue.
“I just read online that i have been banned, which to me is laughable. How can you raise these baseless allegations.
“I will fight with the last drop of my blood, to prove a point that FIFA’s statement and verdict against me is the falsehood of the century.”
Recall, that the body had banned the former Nigerian International for life, for agreeing to “receive bribes in relation to the manipulation of matches” allegedly, FIFA said in a statement.
“The Ethics Committee has found Mr. Siasia, a former Official of the Nigeria Football Federation, guilty of having accepted that he would receive bribes in relation to the manipulation of matches, in violation of the FIFA Code of Ethics”, FIFA noted.
TOS TV had earlier reported that in addition, a fine in the amount of $50,000 has been imposed on Mr. Siasia.
The sanction stems from an ongoing ‘large-scale investigation’ which FIFA is conducting into the behaviour of Wilson Raj Perumal, a convicted match-fixer from Singapore.
Siasia was Coach of the Nigerian team between 2010 – 2011 and in 2016, but the time period when FIFA believes he committed his infractions is however, unclear.
