Hours after Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo met with 10 APC governors on Sunday, the National leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and presidential aspirant, Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday met with 12 governors elected on the platform of the party in Abuja.
Osinbajo who announced his intention to run for president in 2023 during the meeting with the Governors, officially declared his presidential bid on Monday morning.
Tinubu called them for the meeting after they had honored the invitation of the vice-president.
The governors who met with Tinubu are Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna; Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state; Simon Lalong of Plateau; Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano; Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi; Mai Mala Buni of Yobe; Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos; Hope Uzodimma of Imo; Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa; Muhammad Badaru of Jigawa, Gboyega Oyetola of Osun; and Governor of Kwara state, AbulRahman AbdulRazaq.
In January, Tinubu declared his presidential bid. He will contest against Osinbajo, who is regarded as his ‘political son,’ and against Minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, in the APC presidential primary election.
