The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former Governor of Lagos, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will meet with Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over the crisis rocking the party in Kano State as a move to save his presidential ambition in 2023.
Tinubu on Sunday, met with Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, whose faction has been in battle with Ganduje over the control of APC structures in the state.
Tinubu singled out the leaders of the opposing factions in Kano for reconciliation as the recently concluded congresses of the party led to crisis in 13 states.
The congresses separated Kano APC into two with Ganduje’s faction being chaired by Abdullahi Abbas while Shekarau’s faction has Ahmadu Haruna Danzago as chairman.
The crisis worsened last Tuesday, November 30 when an FCT high court gave a judgement upholding the parallel congress held by the Shekarau-led faction and cancelled the Governor Ganduje faction.
The crisis also led suspected protesters to the burn down the campaign office of Senator Jibrin I. Barau on Thursday, December 2 in Kano. The faction loyal to Ganduje led by Abbas had denied sponsoring the attacks.
