Ondo State Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Akure has on Tuesday dismissed the petition filed by Eyitayo Jegede of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), against Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Eyitayo Jegede is contenting the victory of the APC and Akeredolu at the gubernatorial poll held in October 10, 2020.
The chairman of the three-member panel Justice Umar Abubakar while delivering judgement in Akure struck out the petition of Eyitayo Jegede of the PDP for want of Jurisdiction.
According to him “Issue raised therein in this petition are settled the issue of internal affairs and management of a political party which this Tribunal has no jurisdiction.”
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Akeredolu the winner of the election on Sunday just a few minutes past 3pm on October 11.
Akeredolu had 29,2830 votes while Eyitayo Jegede had 195,791 votes.
