The Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, on Sunday, went against the twitter ban imposed by the Federal Government and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami’s order when he made a tweet, which invited mockers on the governor.
In a statement made by the Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations to the minister, Umar Gwandu, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Salami( SAN), ordered for the immediate prosecution of offenders for the Federal Government’s ban on Twitter operations in Nigeria.
However, the El-rufai joined the list of Nigerians who switched to the use of Virtual Private Networks to bypass the blockage as he tweeted a story link which read “Based Nigeria: African country teaches US lesson in how to handle Big Tech tyranny” at 9:37pm.
His tweet attracted knocks from some Nigerians including ex-presidential aide, Reno Omokri, who called on Malami to prosecute El-Rufai for breaking the Twitter ban order.
Some of the tweets read:
“Dear @MalamiSAN, @elrufai tweeted this 20 minutes ago in violation of your #TwitterBan. If you do not start your arrest and prosecution with him, then you must admit that you are a failure and a man who does not keep to his word,” Reno Omokri wrote.
Also, a tweet, @naphtali_noah tweeted, “Laws are for the poor citizens in Nigeria.”
“el-Rufai can’t do without Twitter,” @Pugomike1 mocked.
@iamtheOG tweeted “All of us go enta malamis jail”
“Smally don download vpn, you can’t shame the shameless” @iyke_nwabuko also mocked.
