Nigerian Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed said on Wednesday that the management of the microblogging platform, Twitter, has reached out to the Federal Government for dialogue over the ban placed on the platform.
The minister made this known to State House correspondents after the weekly meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided over by President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to him, Twitter management was seeking “high-level discussion” to resolve the issue that led to the suspension of its activities in Nigeria.
The minister reiterated that Twitter was suspended because it gave room for those that are threatening the corporate existence of Nigeria.
He therefore said once the issue is settled, Twitter and other social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram must now be registered in Nigeria as business concerns.
