The Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi, on Wednesday, appealed the Federal High Court judgement that sacked him and his deputy, Dr Eric Kelechi Igwe, from office.
This follows an order of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Tuesday that Umahi and his deputy should vacate their seats as the sitting governor and deputy respectively on the grounds of their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party to the All Progressives Congress.
Appealing the decision before the Court of Appeal in Suit No: FHC/ABJ/CS/920/2021, Umahi stated that the Federal High Court erred when it said it had “not seen any authority which propounds that where Governor or Deputy Governor defects his political party on which platform he was elected into office, he cannot be sued by that political party to reclaim its mandate.”
